Question:

How to safely destroy a Tomtom?

I have a TomTom One 1st ed which is still covered with a 'whatever happens' insurance policy. I wanted to destroy it safely in a way that I can get a new one from the insurance. New models now have traffic updates and camera alerts built in. Mishaps are not covered.Any sinister thoughts?

  1. erm insurance fraud much

"leave it out in the rain"

  2. There are tons of ways to destroy it, but all of them- with the intent to defraud, are fraud. If the company thinks you intentionally destroyed it, you will not get a new one and you won't have the old one, either.

Save your money to buy a new one.

  3.    Having worked for DSG in the past, dealing with this sort of claim, the whatever happens policy is normally cancelled out if it's found that the damage was inflicted deliberately. Any item claimed under WEH is subjected to almost forensic style tests.

I've seen many laptop computers claimed for under this refused as they've been able to prove that it was a deliberate act to try to claim (remember that WEH is an insurance policy of sorts).

I would absolutely NEVER tell anyone that dropping it from a great height is pretty well guaranteed not to be detected as this would be a foul subterfuge against this company.

It may well be worth checking out the small print in the WEH contract though, as it may not pay out as much as you think it would.

  4. Yeah, here's a thought. You're an idiot.

  5. microwave it?

  6. was your car broken into and they stole it ?

a police report is required !

  7. My brother bought his from asda, he broke the car charger to it and told them it wasnt takin charge.

He now has the newer version.

  8. throw it out the car window whilst going at speed, somehwere safe obviously, i would claim the sucker that holds it to the window fell off as you turned a corner and it shot out!

  9. I WOULD STICK IT IN YOUR FRONT SCREEN AND DRIVE OFF BEACHY HEAD AT SPEED.

THIS WILL PROVE TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT IT IS A GENUINE CLAIM.

    DO IT NOW!!!!!

  10. Here's a clue, Sherlock; you are going to have to pay for any upgrades. With your luck TomTom will simply send you a 'reconditioned' unit just like the one you have -- in four to six weeks -- and this time with no warranty.

  11. Just stick a magnet on it for a day and let it f up the screen. Haha that's how my sister broke hers cause she's stupid. She stuck her work name tag on it.

  12. Yes.........just connect it up to 110 volts, house voltage for 2 seconds and that will do it....

  13. um getting it wet might not be good cause in phones theres a little patch that turns wet when dopped in water so they won't replace it plus are you sure they'll give you a newer one

  14. anyway u can overload it with current? and frazzle it
