How to salvage mp3's from old computer?

I have saved my old computer from college but got rid of the monitor. The computer has tons of mp3's and other files that I wanted to save. Now I'm at a loss on how to transfer those files to my new computer. I don't have a monitor that will hook into the old computer. Is there a way to connect my laptop to the old computer box and transfer the files? Or another way to do it?

Take out the hard drive and buy an enclosure for it so you can now use it as an external hard drive.
