How to save electricity.?

Im renting an apartment next year for college and im not hurting for money i just dont like wasting it. I heard christmas lights are cheaper than lamps. is this true? and if so are rope lights cheaper as well? and are they safe? i dont feel like waking up on fire lol

  1. Use lamps otherwise what you save in electricity you will spend on doctors.  With low lighting you will be tripping over everything.

    Seriously, just turn off lights when you leave a room.


  2. Use lamps with the compact flourescent bulbs instead of the regular incandescent light bulbs. A 9 watt CF bulb gives approximately the same light as a 60 watt bulb. A 23 watt CF gives about the same light as a 100 watt bulb. That's a savings of over 75% of your electricity bill for lights.

    There are some new technologies using LED bulbs, but for home lighting they are still pretty expensive. It won't be long before they are more affordable.

    The Christmas tree lights are not durable enough for everyday use. And they don't really give off enough light to illuminate a room. With 4 strings of 100 lights on my Christmas tree there is still not enough light to read by. I think each bulb is 1.5 watts. So that is a lot more electricity than a compact flourescent bulb would use.
