How to save energy in a school?

Doing this for a eco-schools team in, well, school obviously...

  1. lock the gates and don't let anyone in

    Cost £20,000 to be installed,excess electricity

    can be sold to the National grid,grants are

    available for such projects.

  5. have the windows open when it's warm instead of ac or heat

    turn off the lights when you don't use them

    use the computers less

    unplug things when they're not being used

    recycle, but that doesn't do with saving energy

  7. put all the kids on dynamo bikes to power the school, and switch every hour, it can be a new lesson. lol

    everyone eat cold dinners, save on gas.

    use one computer in a classroom insted of 30.

    install solarpanels for the IT departments.

  9. Add insulation to reduce heating costs in winter.

    Put lawn-type sprinklers on roof for simple evaporative cooling.

  10. Ask to get solar panels, don't turn on lights when not needed, turn off the poweer switch on a socket when your not using it, and encourage people to throw away litter & recycle because then the cleners won't have to waste more energy on vacums etc

    # Tell your teachers to turn off the lights if they're not needed.

    # Tell your teachers to turn the computers off when they're not needed.

    # In I.C.T. when the teacher is talk to the whole class, turn off the monitor.

    # Have paper recycling bins in all class rooms.
