How to save money on a golf round: Ten golden rules
Golf is often regarded as one of the most addictive of sports one can indulge in, but considering the expensive paraphernalia it requires, it is not something everyone can enjoy with equal ease.
The sport with its entire splendor, remains largely a leisurely indulgence for the affluent and privileged and can only be enjoyed by a working class fan through the screens of his TV or behind the spectator’s railings on a course.
Standard playing equipment is often quite costly, let alone the exorbitant one-round fee which one has to pay to soothe his appetite for the glamorous putting and tee-shots.
But the picture is not all that gloomy either. With A little wit and smart thinking, people have been able to tailor a not-so-expensive round. Here are the ten golden rules of buying a cheap round of golf and save precious bucks.

As Mark Twain once famously referred golf as “a good walk spoiled”, it’s always better to walk the course between the holes than to hire a golf cart for the purpose. It will always turns out to be a nice experience as a poor playing ability will be compensated
by a rejuvenating walk through the greens. If in case you are not so bad a golfer, it always gives ample time to think over your strategy between the tees and the greens.

Always keep a check on courses that offer discounts for rounds later in the evening. Also check for the rates on the weekends as the courses are not only cheaper in rates but also less crowded. This will not only save you some money but would also spare
you from going through the ordeal of waiting for the weekend golfers to tee off for their less than 100-yard shots.

Look out for the yearly packages. There are actually ways one can save lots of playing fee with a yearly package as compared to paying for every round separately.

As the standard branded clubs are expensive to even rent, look for the replicas available in the market. These knockoff clubs are just as good as the original ones although not similar, but for a less than pro golfer, they work just fine.

In case it’s hard for you to cheat your conscience for replica equipment, look for used brands like Titleist or Callaway or Pings, which are always for sale on one website or the other. EBay also offers an exciting list of used golf equipment. Golf clubs
rarely wear out so if the shafts are straight and the Hosel is secure, you might just have a fair deal.

Buy cheap balls and although the brand manufacturers are bent upon convincing the golfers that a $4 ball travels faster and straighter than a $2 ball, there’s no scientific reasoning to support it and both of them work just as fine. Also avoid buying balls
from the course as they are more expensive.

It’s better to spend savings on getting a few lessons from a pro or an instructor than investing in expensive equipment. A better grip on the sport will yield in a more satisfying and enjoyable experience.

Fall is the best time of the year to be playing golf. Not only the crowds are gone but the courses are also in their best shapes. There are often deals on off-seasoned clothing and accessories which can be useful.

Bring your own food and drinks on the course. Don’t be fooled by the attractive young ladies selling food items on push carts around the course. They can be expensive. However, Courses generally would not allow bringing your own beer as per rules.

10.  Subscribing to golf magazines can be fatal to your golf budget. The sole purpose of these magazines is to convince you that you cannot play good golf without the world’s best clubs, which, by the time you get your hands on, will be obsolete and outdated.
