  1. me di cuenta de que... this is the best translation.

realice is not such a good word to use in this instance as it suggests the realization of a task rather than a psychological realization

    - I'm not sure about "conseguiera" but can't think of a more appropriate conjugation right now.

@Pois aqui estou eu: "realizar" is NOT a false friend and means a lot more than just "to build" or "to make"

@Aureen: I grant you that I was a bit pedantic, but there is a tiny difference between just noticing something and a process of realisation, even if it might not really matter here

@Hutty and Killah B: "me di cuenta" is "I noticed" rather than "I realised"

@witch doctor and Hutty: "derecha" means "right" in the sense of "left and right"

@Killah B: me e dado cuenta que la gente no me entiende = I noticed that people don't understand me (and it's "he dado")

  4. This is the literal translation:

"Me di cuenta de que la gente no me entendería, a menos de que hiciera la entonación exactamente correcta"

However, this translation sounds much better, and you say the same thing, only I wrote "use the correct intonation" instead of what you said:

"Me di cuenta de que la gente no me entendería, a menos de que usara la entoncación correct"

    I hope this helps!!!

Both of the translations are correct, but the first one sounds weird.

    realised=, dado cuenta

  6. "I realized" is "Me di cuenta", that is how I was taught and also what I heard/used among native speakers.

@carmencantora: I believe you are a good Spanish speaker and was not intending to undermine your answer. I was offering what I consider to be correct. Understand that different places may say the same things in different ways, and that doesn't mean either person is necessarily wrong. I learned that "realizar" means "to accomplish" and was taught by native speakers (Peru) that "darse cuenta" is "to realize". When I want to say "I realized" I always use "Me di cuenta..." That's all - have a good day :)

    * For what it's worth or if it helps at all, here are the definitions of both according to the Real Academia Española:

    - "Realizar":

    - "Darse (cuenta) de":

    http://buscon.rae.es/draeI/SrvltConsulta...

    (scroll down)

  7. I don't know what carmencantora was doing in Spain within all those years, but I have to say it's not "realizar", because "realizar" means "to build" or "to make" (It's a false friend).

I think "caí en la cuenta" is the correct translation.

Then it's: "Caí en la cuenta de que la gente no me entendería a no ser que entonara a la perfección."

  9. Me di cuenta que no me entenderian si no acertara con la intonacion exacta.

Realizar is a "false friend", Carmencita.

  10. Can't be done.  There is no word in the English Dictionary as realised!
