How to seal end cap on pvc pipe?

I have made an underwater camera housing with PVC pipe, and i have a s***w cap on the end with an O ring, but it leaks water. Any ideas on how to create an airtight seal?

  1. depends on the depth your using it at.. preasure will disstort the pvc and cause the oring to let water pass. best you check at a diving school their sure to be someone there that does underwater phography

  3. Use thread tape to wrap around the threading of the pvc pipe before s******g on the caps,this will help with the sealing.

  4. EDIT

    Teflon pipe thread tape is available at any hardware, Lowe's Walmart, etc.

    You may also consider lubricating the O ring with a lithium based grease. It may be distorting with the twist to tighten.

    Also, you might be over-tightening.

    Also, wrap and overlap the seam with waterproof electrical tape. There are some which are (silicon) self-adherent  rubber, a little wider and thicker than the usual plastic types.
