How to separate vinyle tiles without breaking them.

Question

I bought some new tiles from my daughter,they came in sheets of 2, 3 and 4,I found it very hard to separate them,she told me to use a butter knife it cracked a small piece.My question is, Is there a way I can separate the tile with out breaking them? The backing is very strong.

warm then in the sun for half an hour or by a heater , blowdryer works but also takes 10 minutes or till soft

Warm them slightly.

Try heating them up with a hair dryer,I have used this method and had very good results.It is time consuming but works.
