  1. This site should help. Good luck. Easy detailed instructions. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone...

  2. Does dads computer have wireless capability???  If not then it has to be added with a card of one type or another (depends if desktop or laptop).  Once done then it has to have networking setup and an internet connection via network and such and then it should connect.  Make sure if you setup wireless security in the router that the computer for wireless connection is setup the same (security access to wireless connection).

It really isn't all that hard and unless you want to share files or printers etc then even the network name can be different (we tested this).

  3. Some simple steps

    1) Choose your wireless router(which u already have)

    2) Connect ur modem to the router simple wire connection

    3) Get connected to your router by LAN wire and then go to the address of Netgear router to configure it. it would ask for a network password and name

    4) Start the wireless configuration service in your windows machine. go to start-->run and type services.msc and enable the setting.

    5) Start your wireless network adapter and by going to control panel and network connections and choose wireless network adapter and double click it to enable it.

    6) your windows xp would start detecting the wireless router and give a password and name and get going.

Hope this helps..do some googling if in doubt
