  1. If it is just a game between 2 to 4 players.  Each player subtracts the difference from their handicap from the golfer with the lowest highest handicap.

Then if you are playing stroke play, they can subtract this number from their score to create their final handicapped score.

If match play, determine the difference the same way, and then each player can subtract one stroke per hole up to the difference between their handicap and the lowest players handicap on the most difficult holes.  For example if the difference is 5 for a player.  He can subtract 1 stroke from each of the 5 most difficult holes before it is determined who won the hole. Each player does the same, for example a player with a 7 difference, subtracts 1 stroke from each of the 7 most difficult holes before determining who won the hole.

  2. If you are planning a scramble with 144 players - that gives 36 teams.  The only "fair" way to seperate the winners is to set up 3 flights for the tournament.  Have all 36 teams go out and the top 12 scores are flight A - the next 12 are B and the low 12 are C.  The top team or top 2 teams in each flight win prizes.

There is an easy method that works for both stroke and match play.

I will use an example with two golfers.

    Golfer A has a 7 handicap.

    Golfer B has a 10 handicap.

Pull out the scorecard for the course. The scorecard ranks the holes from hardest (1) to easiest (18).

Golfer B gets a stroke on the three HARDEST holes. (his handicap 10 minus the better golfers handicap of 7)

Let's say hole #10 is the #1 handicap hole.

    Golfer B makes a 5.

    Golfer A makes a 4.

Result: The hole is tied after golfer B takes his one handicap stroke for a net 4. In match play the hole would be a halve.

This is the most simple method for handicapping, you always play off of the lowest handicap.

    Good Luck!

  4. Stableford, job done.

  5. Handicaps are used in various events across the golfing calendar... Stroke events, the winner is the one with less nett shots (after h'cap is taken off), Stableford event, is the winner with the most points, VSS event is the one with the most + on the card... Yeah bloody confusing ey...

But setting up a golf game with different handicaps is pretty easy when you know how. If every one has a handicap then its easy to do... Every one counts every single shot they make, then at the end you minus your handicap.. Example:

    Player A Handicap of 22 - He/she has 108 shots over 18 holes - 108 - 22 (Handicap) = 86

    Player B Handicap of 27 - He/she has 110 shots over 18 holes - 110 - 27 (Handicap) = 83

Therfore 83 being the lowest score, player B wins.

If you all do not have a handicap, then allocate or draw one from a hat...then thats their handicap for the day
