How to set up my amp with my sub?

hey i have a jl 500-1 amp and a 12" p3 in a ported box. what should i put the settings on the amp to to get the best boom but still have good sound quality? its in an 07ford mustang gt with a mach 500 sound system if that makes any difference

Hey!  If you would have gotten it professionally installed, maybe you could take it to the installer, and then the Installer would have recommeded you get an epic 160 plus bass restoration machine that summed the outputs of your factory amp to create a clean waveform that your 550 dollar amp REALLY wants.
