  1. well from what i've seen most people dig a hole and dump the scraps in the hole and then put big logs over it.

then when you hunt over it the bear will have to spend more time there so you can get a better look at it.

  2. Skip the spoiled meat if you have access to expired bakery goods and sweets. Sweets will pull bear off meat baits from miles away. I assume you've checked your states rules on baiting and using buckets is legal? If so, I use a 55 gal barrel on its side chained or bolted to a tree. Cut a 8" hole in the side and stuff it with doughnuts bread, old frosting, anything sweet & sticky. cover it with logs. Do not under estimate the strength of a bear, cover it well, it keeps smaller less desireable bears out. Don't waste your time with 5 gallons they eat that in 1 minute, or drag it off into the bush. I also built a double boiler out of old coffee cans and boil honey and maple syrup, using a sterno can for heat. I also have had luck with boiling old bacon grease. Do this as you sit and wait ,not before hand. I also bait just a week or two before season. Be dilligent about controling your scent going to and from maintaining the baits. Rubber gloves, boots, and scent killer products. Good Luck!! Kill shots only!!!

  3. Get you 2 0r 3 barrels and put your meat in one and then your pasteries in another one and put the baits out 1 - 2 weeks in advance and check your baits to see which ones are being hit regularly the reason you seperate the items is because bear are just like humans some like rotten meat and some like sweets and some like both another good thing to add to your baits would be a pail of honey all of these work but also check with your local fish & game and see how many bait stations you are allowed to maintain in your area.
