Question:

How to setup Canon S5 IS with an External 736AF/CAN TTL Flash?

I have Canon S5 IS; recently I purchased an external AF TTL Bounce Flash.

When using Auto mode the flash shoots the maximum light and the pictures are all white.

When using “P” mode (Program) I can set up the flash magnitude manualy so sometimes too much and sometimes too low.

How can I get best results using this Flash?

Shouldn’t it be automatically?

Thanks

  1. Is your external flash designed for Canon cameras?  If not, the camera's auto exposure function may not work with your flash.

If your flash has a light sensor (e.g. Sunpak 383 auto), you can set the flash to f/4. Shoot in manual mode and set shutter speed to 1/60 and aperture to f/4.  Otherwise, you probably need to adjust the aperture yourself according to the condition.
