The only thing is I want to put in a light bulb but dont know the electrical details ... the max voltage out of my electrical circuit is 120V, I was thinking of using a 60 watt light bulb, any idea on how to go about setting that up would be appreciated. thanks

  1. I would try putting the smallest CFRs into it.  60 watts might be too hot and might burn the lanterns.  You need to keep the bulbs away from the paper.  The easiest is putting night lights into lanterns.  You can use short extension cords because it hardly using any electricity.

  2. VERY carefully.

Especially if you got it from overseas, it might not

    be flame retardant.

The paper must not be too near the lamp, (bulb),

and there must be a path for air to flow around the

    lamp from bottom to top.

Use a CFL lamp as they produce less heat.

You can buy a cord, plug, inline switch, and socket,

    at your local hardware store.

  3. I cannot appreciate from the photo if the lamp is already wired and hang of the electrical wire, or if that wire is only for hanging.

If it is already wired, (If it is really from India you should check if the socket is compatible with U.S. standards.) and your 120V are the ones of the utility company, you only have to s***w a bulb in there. But I would use a lower wattage bulb or a compact fluorescent one: if the heat is excessive, the lamp can actually burst in flames. You would agree that is not good;) In India maybe they use candles, but is still dangerous.

If it is not wired, maybe you can buy a cheap little desk lamp and "transplant" the electrical parts. Or began a project on your own. In that case, please refer to a friend or familiar to help with electrical security.
