Question:

How to sew your own shroud/telescope cover?

We have some cloth for materials, thread, and a sewing machine, but I can't for the life of me find any instructions how to sew a shroud/telescope cover.

We'd like to make one like the one here: http://yhst-1469288697390.stores.yahoo.net/tgfi14sconla.html

If anyone has any tips, instructions, or a tutorial we could follow easily it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Please know also that spending for a shroud is not an option for us right now.

  1. You have your "pattern" right there in your link.  increase or decrease the length depending on your scope.  give a couple inches wiggle room.

Sew right sides of the material together.

You can buy those cheap solar blankets at WalMart for about $2 each if you want the shiny metallic fabric instead of what you already have.

You don't need perfection with a thing like this.   You can even just take one of the solar blankets from Walmart and a bunjy cord around the base with no sewing involved.
