Hello,

well, I have got a Belkin G plus mimo cable router, and 2 desktops are connected to it, and i will get one wireless laptops in next few days.

They are all connected to the internet via the router.

I have also connected my hp laser jet 8000 N printer ( also I do not have the original cd or software for my printer I have got it from e bay) to my router since it has an Ethernet port.

how do i make it, so every computer on my network can print from this one printer?

the other thing is since its connected to the router directly, i don’t want to have the printer connected to any computer via usb, so can someone please tell me some detail or direct me to a tutorial in which all my computers can print from this one printer which is connected to the router via a direct Ethernet cable?

thank you so much!

  1. The N in the model tells that it is a networkable printer.  Plug your printer into your router and go through the menu on the printer and assign an IP address that is in the same subnet as your two computers.  Once that is done set up a new printer on the the computers using tcpip

  2. You could call HP (DO NOT tell them it's used, just say you lost the CD and manual) and they can help you.  You should be able to download the software and manual from HP's website.

We use that printer at work, basically you find it's host name (look at your router's DHCP Client list) and go to Add Printer, new IP/TCP Print Port and enter the printer's address.  Then tell Windows what make/model (any HP LaserJet driver should do fine) and it should work.

    EDIT:

Now that I think of it, you should be able to print a config page from the printer's menu.  This will have all it's network config info including it's hostname and IP address.  You may have to enable DHCP if it hasn't been reset to defaults before you got it.

  3. Hi,

If you visit the hp website and download the drivers as it won't work without them.
