How to shift on a motorcycle ?

when you shift on a motorcycle does it have to be like clutch first shift then let go or u can shift and press clutch at the same time so u can do it fast and easily

  1. Clutch in then shift.But it can be done very quickly if your used to doing it.


  2. Once you are rolling the clutch is hardly needed. Just a quick squeeze during the shift. Downshifting a bit more.

    Try it without the clutch a few times to get a feel for the timing of the "tight spot".

  3. Depends, on my R1 at the track I just blip the throttle at the same time I up shift.  I don't have a quick shift and I do it in the power band, its actually smoother than using the clutch, IMO.

  4. You would roll off the throttle, then pull in the clutch, then shift, then let out the clutch, then roll on the throttle.  After you get comfortable and get more experience, this all gets done rather quickly and seems like one complete motion.
