  1. Listen to Straight

    And lots of follow through

  2. Just aim slightly below center on the cue ball and try to keep the cue stick closer to level.

  3. straight's definately got some knowledge!  listen to him and follow through.  stroking without dropping your elbow is key.

  4. dude!  its  easy  brother.  all  you do  is  aim  low  on  the  cue  ball.  if  you  aim  low  and  to  the  right  the  ball  will  have  even more  precise  english.  low  and  to  the  left  as  well  but that  will spin  the  ball  the  opposite  of  low  and  to  the  right.  as  for  putting  right  and  left  english  im  terrible,  but  drawing  the  cue  back  or  making  it  stop  upon  hitting  the  ball  you  are  aiming  for  just  requirers  you  to  aim  low  on  the  cue  ball.  practice  this  with  just  the  cue,  and  experiment  with hiting  it  in  differnt  spots  low,high,left,right  etc.etc..  youll  find  that  just  messin  around  like  that  will  teach  you  more  than  actually  being  taught.

  5. Back up. First learn to let the cue ball just occupy the space of the object ball with no english. Practice this til the cue stops just where the object ball was with no drift.Get this down then listen to Straight.

PS I think crazy's best chance of drawing a ball is with a crayon

  6. Everyone is pretty much dead on.....the biggest mistake I normally make is to try to over stroke.......put an object ball on or near the headstring with the cue ball at the other end in line from corner pocket to corner pocket........to start you might move everything a little closer....but the idea is pocket the ball in one corner pocket and then draw the cue ball straight to the opposite corner pocket....you are trying to "scratch" at your end.......you do not have to go but just below center.....the key to me is not only the follow thru but keeping your "butt" level......the cue "butt"...not yours!......next ...do not over grip the butt(here again the cue butt...not that girl next to you)....a medium to light grip works the best for me....when I am nervous and squeeze it to much....the cue ball goes no where and often miss it as well......just below center.....keep the cue butt level and follow thru...and I mean follow thru......think of me jabbing at your face...not much effect right?.....but if follow thru all the way to the back of head what then?......POWER!.....try it and see if this might help.....as you get it down....move the balls back further and further......you just need medium speed for this shot to work.....what is medium speed?.....if the cue ball is not coming straight back......you are shooting too hard!

  7. Without being there with you, it's difficult for me to judge your stroke mechanics, but for the time being, lets assume you have your stroke in order.  Let's also assume that your cue tip is properly rounded, scuffed and chalked.  To execute a draw shot, you need to position the cue tip below center on the cue ball's vertical axis.  The lower you go, the more backspin you will apply.  Be sure to keep your cue stick as level as possible.  The key to getting draw on the cue ball is to make sure that you aren't poking or jabbing your cue stick at it.  If your stroke mechanics are in order, having proper follow-through will come naturally.  Very often, people worry too much about getting a double-hit foul when the cue ball comes back to them.  You need to go through the cue ball to get sufficient backspin.  Still, don't do anything crazy to try and force draw, like dropping your elbow to try to shoot further through the ball.  It would be much easier to explain if I were there with you.  Of course, I'm putting the cart before the horse here in that I would like to work on your stroke before trying to get you doing draw shots.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

P.S.  It sounds from your description like you are elevating the butt end of your cue.  You need to work on keeping your cue level.
