How to shoot the ball for pool?

Hold the cue stick so that when your back arm reaches the bottom of it's swing, that is the point where the cue's tip contacts the cue ball. Keep your back arm close to your body in order to contact the cue ball in the center. Practice just hitting the cue ball from one end of the table to the other, in a straight line. It should rebound off the lower cushion, and if you hit it properly, come right back to the spot it left.

Create a stable bridge with your hand, there are lots of different way of doing this, mostly it's personal preference.  Get your head as low to the shot as possible to be accurate, smoothly stroke the cue with your other hand.
