How to show a dun?

i was wondering if anyone can give me tips on showing my dun welsh sec a? i know coloureds and palaminos shouldn't be plaited, does this apply to duns? also as she is a native breed, and does it mean if i don't plait her can i only do certain classes??

  1. I've never heard that colored breeds shouldn't be braided/plaited.  They've always been done in the typical show manner the same as any other horses.  Unless it's a breed specific show, but Welsh's don't really have that.


  2. We have a buckskin (dun) hunter pony. In her day, she was the best. Anyway, yes she was always braided main and tail for A shows.

  3. Well, most of us on here are from the US and have no clue about UK show rules, so please forgive the second answer below.

    Don't know if this applies to every show, but I did find this link with some great rules for Welsh Section A ponies.

  4. Native ponies should always be unplaited and untrimmed - the colour is irrelevant.

    You can do any suitable class unplaited; as a Welsh A, she should never be plaited, regardless of discipline.
