  1. I'm sorry you're going through this :[.

You could just try to think of certain ways to show(not tell) that you have no intents on actually staying with your brother, you just would like to see him again. And that you have so much back in your home country, and you wouldn't want to leave that behind.

  2. You should provide written evidence of as many of the following as apply:

    - a job in your home country (letter from your employer (on letterhead), pay slips, tax filing forms)

    - your bank statements (showing regular paycheques/income)

    - evidence of any property you own in your home country (legal papers/deeds of ownership, proof of mortgage, etc.)

    - do you have family in your home country (ie. wife/husband, children?) - provide proof

A separate letter with you explaining your case may not be that helpful because what they need is written proof of ties (from sources other than yourself).

However, if you have limited ties - ie. you're not working in your home country, you have no family/property and if you're fairly young it may be difficult for you to get a visa to visit your brother.

Also, your brother should provide you (so you can submit with your application) proof of his:

    - immigration status in Canada (ie. if your brother is their legally, it will help your case)

    - his income / proof of employment in Canada

    - does he own a home or rent an apartment?

Further information can be found on the website of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, www.cic.gc.ca

    Good luck!
