I have a couple of dress shirts/oxford shirts that are baggy on me, does anyone know how I can shrink them?

  1. Of course, take them to a tailor and have them fit it on you and have it worked on. That's the best way!

  2. Washing them in hot water and drying in high heat can help shrink them!

  3. If they're white 100% woven cotton and if the fabric isn't preshrunk, you can wash them in hot water, then rinse and dry in a hot dryer. But that might make the shirt shrink more from top to bottom than from side to side and can also damage the fabric's finish. Also, many Oxford shirts are made of knit fabric, which won't shrink in the same way.

If the shirt is only baggy around your abdomen (and this is common in young guys with broad shoulders), you can instead have a seamstress or even someone you know with a sewing machine take the side seams in. This will reduce bagginess in the waist area while still keeping the finish of the shirt and proper arm/torso length.

If the Oxfords are knit, I'd strongly recommend the seamstress or a relative with a serger.

    Good luck!

  4. most are a cotton blend and won't shrink.  have a tailor fit them to you or buy a size smaller.
