Opening a window does work, you just need a little something else as well. Get yourself a standing fan for your room, and when your going to smoke place it so that it blows air outside of your room. When you exhale make sure you blow into the fan, and make sure you keep whatever you are smoking close to the fan too. So no smoke will actually flow into your room. It will all be sucked out by the fan. If you want to get really fancy about it, you could get another fan and have it aim at that one from a farther point in your room. This way, if any smoke gets past the first fan, its sent back to it to be sucked out again. Hope this helps.

I don't think there is any way; my roommates have tried everything to smoke in the house without me knowing, but even if I'm gone for a few days I can still smell it.  The only thing that remotely works is for them to completely cover the cold air return vent in their room, put a window exhaust fan in their window, and smoke directly into the fan.  I can still smell it, but it doesn't get in the rest of the house that way.

Having smoked for many years before struggling to quit, I have to tell you wholeheartedly...DON'T SMOKE.

Hang your cigarette hand and head out of the window while you smoke.  Ionic air freshening system will clean up most of the smoke that wisps into the room.

You should respect your parents wishes and abide by their house rules.  Go outside if you have to smoke.  Or rent your own place.

haha i actually know how to beat the system lol..

okay watch get an empty toilet roll(just the cardboard part) and stuff it with those bounce paper things that you put in the dryer to make you clothes soften up.... Stuff it tight and hard.  take a few puffs outside and try it out... blow your smoke through there and you will see that barely anything is even there. u can use it in your room and the smoke will not even smell.

Smoke by an exhaust fan and as someone said seal up any return vents. If you close the window on it, you should get negative pressure in your room -- the idea is that air comes in under your door and *nothing* in your room goes to the rest of your house . . .
