  1. type it into a calculator with a "solve" function. if you have a graphing utility you can graph it and find the intercept. it's too tedious to do manually.


  2. It would be very hard to solve this algebraically, so I will solve this graphically and numerically.

    First graph f(x)=lnx -5x

    In the online graphing calculator, it looks like a parabola, but there's no negative x value because of natural log, so there's a possibility of 2 solutions.

    graph g(x)=-4.6

    g(x) intersects f(x) at .8986 and .0106

    therefore x= 0.8986 and 0.106
