How to solve an equation to the third degree?

how would you solve this:

12x^3 - 23x^2 - 3x +2 =0

(idk if its relevant but its given that one of the values of x is 2)

and an inequality like this :

x^2 +2x- 3 <= 0;

  1. 1.  Use long division to factor out (x-2) from the left-hand side.  You should end up with a manageable quadratic equation.

    2.  First solve it as an equation.  Then, take the answers you end up with and plug them in, and then plug in an answer that&#039;s a little more, and a little less than each answer.  This will help you determine which way the inequality goes.
