  1. If you mean the formula : r = sqrt[(x - x1)^2 + (y - y1)^2]

    then square both sides :

    r^2 = (x - x1)^2 + (y - y1)^2

    Rearrange :

    (x - x1)^2 = r^2 - (y - y1)^2

    Take the square root of both sides :

    x - x1 = ± sqrt[r^2 - (y - y1)^2]

    Add x1 to both sides :

    x = x1 ± sqrt[r^2 - (y - y1)^2]
