Question:

How to solve the pet conflict?

Me and my gf are getting married. Almost all the details have been worked out except for one. She wants a cat and I want a dog. She wants a new one though because mommy and daddy are too attached to their cat to let her take it away. She plans to visit the p***y often though as well as her parents. And I am sure they will want to see adorable baby all the time (and babysit). Now I am a dog man, I want a dog. Mine died about a year ago so I am in the market for a new pet as well. I want a good watchdog. My gf is afraid the dog might eat the cat? I am skeptical about having all these animals around a new baby. What should we do? Should we flip a coin or play a couple hands of poker? I believe a dog is a much better choice, to protect the house and keep no harm to the baby. She thinks a p***y is the best choice to cat around and get into everything I'm sure. Imagine the smell of the litter box? How should we solve the conflict?

  1. Hello,

I think you two need to concentrate on the baby first.

It sounds like you two are new at critters and a baby. Both a puppy and a kitten can do harm to a baby.

Who will be raising everyone? Will your g/f be at home with the baby and the new kitten or puppy all day everyday while you are at work? Or you home all day everyday while she is at work?

Do you work? It takes money . Or both of you at work and the baby critter home all alone?

A new baby is stress enough, you may know this, you may not?

Hate to hear of you two taking to big of a bite then get stressed out. A baby is for life, a puppy and kitten should be too. Wait until the baby is grown some and you two have your ruitine down first is all I am saying.

Wish you and your new family well!

  2. Why dont you get a puppy and a kitten at the same time- then you can both be happy. The animals should get used to each other alot faster when introduced at an early age (before 12 weeks) and it will help if you can introduce the young animals to baby early on.

Be careful about which breed of dog you choose, and make sure to train him properly- if you are raising a family you want to be really careful about getting a dog to protect your house- you dont want him to turn and attack a family member or child one day.

  3. get a cat

  4. ok - there is NO Litter smell if you use the silicone litter and good food

most smell comes from clay litter and crappy food - cats are carnivours so ya.. when you feed them cheap food like Iams or Purina and the main ingredient is CORN you are gonna have stinky p**p!

cats (NOT KITTENS) are excellent with kids..

SOME breeds of dogs are (NOT PUPPIES).. terriers are bred to hunt - so will be nippy.. and herding dogs (border collies etc) are too active.. a quieter breed would be fine

honestly the BEST thing is a nice Golden Retriever AND an adult cat!

get them from the shelter NEVER NEVER a pet store!

goldens are great with kids and cats

did you know that kids raised in homes with 2 or more pets have lower rates of asthema and less allergies (its because when you expose them to natural contaminants it builds up their immunity)

so get both BUT ONLY if you are allowed pets where you live - have a fully fenced yard etc.
