  1. where is the equals sign in the second equation?

    WHERE IS IT??!!

  2. I am not sure if your second equation is right.  Usually it would have an equal sign.

    Anyways,

    Plug in the first equation of y into the second equation:

    -4x - 7 + 9(2x - 13)  now simplify

    -4x - 7 + 18x - 117

    14x - 124

  3. (1) y=2x-13

    (2) -4x-7=9y

    subtitute (1) into (2)

    -4x-7=9(2x-13)

    -4x-7 = 18x - 117

    110 = 22x

    x = 5

    (1) y=2x-13

    so... y = (2x5) - 13

              = 15 - 13

              = 2

  4. The second equation doesn't have an equals sign.  Here's how to solve it as written:

    y=2x-13, so put (2x-13) in for y in the second expression

    -4x-7+9*(2x-13)

    Distribute the 9

    -4x-7+18x-117

    Combine the x's

    14x-7-117

    combine the numbers

    14x-124

    If the second expression is supposed to be -4x-7=9y, here is the solution

    -4x-7=9*(2x-13)

    -4x-7=18x-117

    110-4x=18x

    110=22x

    x=110/22=5

    y=2x-13=2*5-13=10-13=-3

    x=5, y=-3
