How to sound proof a floor?

ok heres the deal my dads just bought an upstairs factory to bulid offices the only problem is i want to build a sound proof room but its on the 2nd story of the building and the floor isnt concrette so i just wanted to know how to sound proof floor boards pretty much................ also im sure u can buy a type of soundproffing mat which acts like a sort of concrette substance but im not 100percent sure....................................... and im willing to pay top dollar to get the best materials so if u do answer this question and if your from australia would u be able to also tell me the shop where i can get this material from thx heaps

  1. there is no such thing as "soundproof" it's more like sound deadening , if your willing to pay top dollar, hire an expert.


  2. I "soundproofed" 1 room in my house before it was done being built. I put Insulation between the floor joists, it's worked very well.

    Some good sources below.

  3. The new cork flooring is about as quite you can make it. check them out, they are quite different  than you imagine.

  4. You're probably better off building a sound proof studio:)
