How to spanish dance?

this guy i have been dateing is spanish & turns out he can dance to spanish music. his family is into danceing too. nothing too fancey, just basic to spanish music.

he told me he wants to dance with me sometime.

& i never danced before so i wouldnt know how!

he told me he would teach me.

i just dont want to look like an idiot cause i cant dance & i know theres alot of hip movement & rythem.

i tryed looking up videos on youtube but didnt really help me, can someone tell me how to so i get an idea? videos will be very helpful (with a guy & a girl spanish danceing)

  1. Just let him teach you!  That'll be a great way to get closer to him and learn at the same time.  If he knows you don't have experience, then there's nothing to be worried about.  

    There are so many types of Latin dancing, it depends on what he's wanting to teach you.  There's: Mambo, Cha Cha, Salsa, Merengue, Tango, Rumba.....each dance is different.  

    I will tell you this....in most Latin dance, you start dancing on the 2nd beat instead of the first.  So if you're counting 1, 2, 3, 4 (to the beat of a song) you start your first "step" on the 2 instead of the 1.  

    I'd practice basic hip isolations (moving your hips around without moving any other body part) to get your lower half looser.  You can also try the simple Mambo step....

    1.  step back left, side, step right front, side

    2.  to the count of:  2 and 3 and 4 and five and
