  1. A great way to beat the public speaking nerves is to join and organisation such as 'Toastmasters'.

I did this many years ago when I found out I would have to give presentations at a job I was going for.

The group is all sorts of people, young and old, often business people, who meet once a week for a couple of hours.

Also lots of people go who are going to speak at weddings or some important event, so people are coming and going all the time with a few regulars.

They have a few topics, and you don't know what you will get, then you have to speak for a couple of minutes on the topic. Other people speak on a prepared topic.

Not everyone speaks every time, only those who want to, and it's pretty good fun as a way to learn to speak in public.

It was also pretty cheap from what I can remember.

    Cheers :-)

  2. Be positive about yourself.   Your defeatist attitude can become a self fulfilling  prophecy.

Record yourself reading,  what ever you like, and practice every day for at least 15 minutes.  Be prepared  to the best of your ability.

Get your family, friends and  neighbors to come to a few announcements you would like  to make they can be quite supportive.

Go to senior homes,  veterans, homes, elementary schools and read stories.  The more comfortable you become talking in front of strangers the easier it will become.

Remember to breathe.   Take one nice breathe and relax with it before you answer.  If all else fails get a coach.

    Best of luck to you.
