  1. Sorry, but if you are living in an English speaking country, why would you intentionally set out to give your child a name that nobody can pronounce or spell?

I understand that some people want to give their children names that are unique, but unique shouldn't mean unpronounceable, nor should it mean that you can't even spell her name using the 26 letters of the standard alphabet.

  2. Dalah

  3. Well to make it simple for your daughter when she goes to school have her say her name is Dalia or Darla. Its simple to spell and easy to pronounce and they are pretty names.. Good Luck

  4. Dala'a

  5. I am very confused lol. Just give your child a normal english name!

    :]

  6. name ur kid something else? i wasnt trying to be mean but no one will know how to pronounce it. =/

  7. dalakh

  8. Dala'a

  9. Can you tell us how to pronounce the name?

    Dalia, maybe.

  10. Find a similar name in English and use that.  Use the foreign pronunciation at home and with family.

  11. I think Dala'a looks pretty....and it has only English letters, which will make it easier for her in school, work, and so on.  If she is being raised in the US, I would go with that choice.

  12. i would go with Dala'a

else she will be called Dala-three for ever!

  13. It is probably a good idea to choose a different name, as people with different accents etc may not be able to pronounce it..?

  14. How would you pronounce it?

    That might be helpful.

    =]

  15. That's Arabic, is it? I think that's how we learnt to write phonetics when I studied at the Madrassa. And Kh for the deep R coming from the back of your throat?

Anyways, you can write Dal'a, Dalaa, Dala or Dala'a (Although the second one could also consider the a of Alif..) I have see a lot of people here with apostrophe in their first name so it's ok to have one if you want to do Dala'a. That's what I would go with

Either way, peole are going to wonder how to pronounce it and will probably say it wrong the first time, so I wouldn't really worry about it. :)
