Question:

How to spend an ideal day on Canada Day?

I am currently staying at Toronto for my holidays.

This is the first time I've ever come to Canada.

The 1st of July is Canada Day and I suppose many people here will celebrate the day with their own tastes.

I do not know how to spend the day as I am a stranger here.

Can anyone here kindly suggest the ideal way to spend the day? I don't want to be left behind on the day.

  1. First, congratulations on being one of the few foreigners I've come across who voluntarily makes an effort to celebrate Canada Day!  That shows wonderful Canadian spirit and I wish there were more like you.

Well, tho' I'm from Vancouver and not TO, I'd wake up and think about how blessed I am to be living in a place where water runs clear and free, that I can get plenty of any kind of food from anywhere in the world and can have the freedom to live as I please, so long as I don't hurt anyone else.  Then I'd get in the shower and sing our anthem, "O Canada" as loud as I could.  Then I'd go out and try foods from different ethnic groups which make up the people of our wonderful country for lunch and dinner. After all that food, a walk through a green park or somewhere to take in the beautiful scenery would be in order before renting a great hockey video and inviting a bunch of friends to watch (wish I were there) while drinking a Molson Canadian beer or two.  Then go to sleep, knowing you're safe, not going to get bombed at and wake up July 2nd ready to contribute to making Canada an even better place to live.

  3. I agree with the first answer although, I am celebrating Canada day in a somewhat different manner as I live in Australia in our nation's capital. In the past I used to hang around outside the Canadian High Commission (at a distance of course) but this year I am considering taking myself up to Mugga Way where the residence is and observing. Canada is a beaut country with great landscapes and a lot of well-intentioned, and good-hearted people. Keep up the good work.

  4. Welcome to Canada:)

There will definitly be fire works going on and alot of activities. Hang out with a couple of friends and make the most out of the day. Dont worry theres no certain way to celebrate it, its just about having fun and celebrating Canada's birthday:)
