I am the libero for my highskool volleyball team. I am too short to play middle spiker and dont have a lot of vertical on me. I would just like to learn how to serve better. I am an extremely good passer but am a not so hot server, especially after the rule change making liberos able to serve im not doing as well. I just wish that i could make my serves more consistent. 1. go to Vertical Volleyball at Renaissance Cleveland Volleyball Club at least once a week and you will increase your vertical jump by 3 inches in 5 weeks

  2. Well you need to have the right approch and jump with all your might to pound the ball and hit the ball downward.

  3. libero should not play font row or serve

  4. then that would be a SERVE not a SPIKE

  5. Or you can just let the middle block/hitter serve, and after he loses a point, you go in.

  6. if you cant hit it inside the court then you might want to move over on the line and practice right there. later when u feel more comfortable u can scoot back over and see if it works there.

  7. ok i had the same problem. what i did is went 2 vb camp . put 1 foot in front of the other. put ur weight on ur back foot . ur left or right arm should be in front of u (the ball goes in that hand). ur other hand should be beside ur ear(elbow behind u). toss the ball straight up not moving ur back hand . when the ball is right over ur head hit it w/ the arm thats bent. as u do that shift ur weight from ur back foot 2 ur front.

  8. for amore consistent serve, just make ur hand big and concentrate on hitting the ball on the lower part of the middle (kinda confusing, i know). and just focus on getting it in

  9. Use your palm to force the ball upward and over the net. Whatever you do, don't hit the ball mainly with your fingers. #1-It hurts BAD. #2- You don't have a good chance of getting it over the net. #3-You basically have almost NO control over the ball.

If you throw the ball up and you don't like the throw, DON'T hit it and DON'T catch it. Let it fall and bounce and catch it and then you can throw it up and serve. If you catch it the referee will blow the whistle on you and the other team gets the ball.

Practice serving, or if you don't have a ball or space, keep repeating the motion of serving and imagine you're in an actual game.

The reason why your serves aren't consistant might be because you're nervous. When the referee blows the whistle that allows you to serve, take a couple seconds to calm yourself, take a deep breath and block out any noises. Don't think that everyone is depending on you. Don't think that if you miss it you'll get in trouble. Concentrate on the ball and imagine yourself hitting it over. Once you get your nerves under control, go ahead and serve.

    Good luck!

  10. well i am the libero also..and sometimes the setter...but for spiking you just need to flick your wrist more..

    serveing..

you need to make have a strong hit..make a big hand and hit it with like your palm also try and make your arm straight cause if its not it will drift to somewhere you dont want to hit it to or make it go out

  11. try to relax and allow the ball to float just above the net and land just over it that will throw them off because they will expect it to come far over the net

  12. JUMP.
