I want to connect a powered sub to an old pioneer stereo system that only provides speaker wire outputs. The powered sub had a single mono RCA plug but i tried to splice it to one of the wire outputs on the stereo and I cant get it to work. Any idea how to get it to work?

  1. it probably wont work because your sending an amplified signal into another amplifier (the subs built in amp). you need a low level output or an unamplified signal for the sub.

the pioneers systems speaker output is to much for the subs input.

  2. MTX witch is a car audio manufacture created thees things called "Street Wires" they are +/- on one side and an RCA on the other.  Those may work.  I have 5-6 brand new ones so if you have problems finding them give me a tell.  I'll help you out if I can.

Also, you can purchase a Hi/lo impedance box that takes speaker out wires and converts them into RCA's with adjustments to fine tune it. and a male/femalee/femal or vice verse rca adapter could work.

    good Luck.

ah, man when I edited my answer I lost my thumbs up!  I had 2 help me out guys lol.  Just kidding Good Luck to Ya again man.

  3. Does the powered sub also have speaker connection inputs? some do.  If so, then runs speaker cables to the subwoofer (both left and right) then run cable to the speakers.

  4. you shoul ask in google
