  1. The best way to spread the word about living green is to become an example of it yourself.  Now that everyone is talking about being 'green' it's like a fad.  And when something is a fad it's not taken seriously.  If you just tell someone to be green that's not specific enough.  When you make personal choices that are better for the environment other people will notice and follow.  But in order to make those choices you need  to become informed with the truth about various environmental topics.   You need to learn all you can so that you can help other people learn the truth, the facts.   Keep an open mind and if something doesn't sound like good information try to find other sources to confirm it or refute it.  Get to the bottom of things- don't take other peoples' word for stuff that's important to you.  And definitely don't get your "facts" from TV news.  Once you learn more you'll begin to find your own focus and become an expert about it.  Living it,  learning it, and thinking outside the box will lead you to a lot of satisfaction. Good luck.

  2. The best thing to do is change your life to be as green as you can. Lead by example. Don't try to force other people into it and don't just come out and tell them. If they ask, answer their questions but if you just come out saying it, they'll think your condescending.

  3. Well, first i'd recommend a big does of reality.

Your not telling anyone anything they haven't or shouldn't have already heard about.

America went through a hefty industrialization from WW2 to the 70's. We were splewing out tons of pollutants, co2, waste, etc...with wreckless abandon. Interesting enough , while we were doing this....the global temperatures where actually dropping... so much for the global warming crowd and their bad science.

But going green isn't such a bad thing. Back in the 70's they started ad compaigns, they had pollution awareness, they told people to turn the lights off in a room they weren't using and tightened air and water quality standards too.

People in Los Angeles use to complain that their lungs hurt after work.

You do'nt see that now days, air and water quality has been steadily improving and is good. Even the worse place in America is several times better than what they have in 3rd world countries.. So even though going green is just a continued movement of cleaning up our nation or world, I personally detest the morons that think they started some new movement and think they are the only champions the planet has.

They are nothing more than the johnny come lately's to the movement. With one main difference. From the 70's on, we made reasonable and steady progress, we didn't turn people's lives upside down by making fuel from food, we didn't legislate what products people could use and what they couldn't, we didn't effect the economy or people's personal lives and freedoms and yet look at what we accomplished. Alot of the Now days green people are harming people through legislation, cost of living and ways of life...because they are demanding change, and they want it now.

My advice is....be reasonable....stand by your convictions..but don't be one of these morons. GL

  4. lifestyle says a lot , but don't do it with a prideful attitude or you might turn folks off

there's a lot of email that goes out -- you could add a simple green tip as a signature and chg. it monthly

people read signatures and seeing urs over and over kinda makes it a permanent memory -- even if they don't practice it now, when they see it again it will remind them

  5. just set an example and start by telling friends and family. start small.

  6. Don't spread the word. Its false logic is being spread enough without a child's help. Learn about the situation. Study it, and you will find out that the world is fine. I'm not trying to offend you, but seriously... the world is fine, you're okay, I'm okay, we're all okay, so just... don't worry about it.

  7. Here are some ideas I have that you and your family can try to go green with.  You can spread the word about it by trying to convince all of your friends to join in and try some of the things with their families.  Here is what I came up with:

~Of course, recycle everything you can! (Ex: cans, bottles, plastics, paper, ect.)

    ~Buy energy saving light bulbs

~Buy things like clothes, paper, ect that are made from recycled materials

~Use reusable batteries or recycle dead batteries properly

    ~Use reusable shopping bags

~If you have plastic shopping bags, use them instead of just tossing them. They can be used to pick up dog poo, line small trash cans, ect.

~Try not to use paper napkins or paper towel as much as possible. Instead use cloth napkins that can be washed.

~Try to use fewer paper plates and more washable ones.

    ~Take shorter showers

    ~Turn off lights whenever possible

~Try to buy more organic foods and local foods (for example, at a farmer's market)

    ~Use regular silverware, not plastic

~Use eco friendly products in replace of regular dish washing liquids, house cleaners, ect. (Greenworks)

~Use cold water to wash clothes (Tide Cold water works great)

~On a nice day, turn off the air/heat and open some windows. You save of the cost, get a nice fresh breeze, and help the environment.

~Plant trees around your house to shade and save on using more air conditioning

~Buy one stainless steel, reusable, water bottle instead of using regular plastic ones and then getting rid of them. This one you can clean and use over and over again!

~Change the setting on your sprinklers to use less water

~Buy eco friendly fertilizers (I think they have them at Home Depot)

~If painting, they have eco friendly paint at Home Depot

~Walk or ride a bike wherever possible

    ~Carpool if possible

If you try to accomplish some of these things and get others to too, you are already making a bigger difference than you think because your friends will spread the word to others too!  If you want to go above and beyond, see if you can form a go green group at your school to spread awareness about going green and get the whole school to join in.  The sky is the limit!  Good luck, and I am so proud of you because you are trying to make a difference in the world at such a young age.  Good for you!  Good luck  :)

  8. I am 13 too(:

Have a big conference and call countries from the world to discuss on how to spread the word about going green.  The country which is the most "green" might win $$$ ?

  9. Set a good example for others and don't push it on them too much, but make sure they know what you're doing and that they can, too. I drive cars that run on natural gas (methane) instead of gasoline, so it's cool to teach people about that. Not many people know these cars exist, so it's nice to prove that cars can run on something other than gasoline. My sources are below so you can see of they would work for your family, too. Then you'll have something more to be green with while saving a LOT of money at the same time ($10 to fill up).

  10. dear writer,

I also care deeply about the environment. first of all i would say the best thing you can do is make people aware of the problems and then how going green helps reduce them, one way to spread the word would be search some info. on the internet about global warming and etc. then once you have your info. start buy showing it to your friends and family.. i suggest pictures of how the planet used to be 10 years ago. and how it looks now. good luck!!!

    save the environment!!
