if im nice to my girlfriend which she never has had before and i notice shes takin me for granted how do i stand up for myself without being mean?

Explain to her how you're feeling about it. Sometimes women do take advantage of nice blokes but don't be a pushover or a doormat just be a bit more assertive, you dont have to be mean.
