How to start a fundraiser?

My uncle's wife of 40 yrs. just passed away and he can't get help fixing his house that the floors are falling in, it is 150 yrs old and has been handed down for generations so I wanted to do a fundraiser for him(Yard Sale/Bake Sale etc)

walk door to door and just talk to them and say how your uncle's wife just passed away n stuff and then say any amount will do.
