How to start a website ?

Question

im interested in starting a chat room website, only for my high school. I think it would look good on a college app.

The site would only be for people in my school, with a screen name a code for log in.

It would allow people to meet other students in the school, and to chat with friends.

How do you think i could start a site like this, and would i have to clear it with the school first, like i would a club.

You would have to clear it with the school to place the schools name on it. Such a site is hard to make, so I suggest using a premade IM template, email me if you would like more help.

make the website first (i don't know how, can't help you there) and then if it looks really good and professional, then mention it to your friends and tell them to tell their friends. the cooler your website is, then the more people will actually want to go there and tell all of their friends. and you could like ask your school newspaper to write an article about it. i think you would only have to tell the school if you wanted to have them make a link on the school's website directing students to your website. you know?

sorry, but i really don't see this working out very well. i mean, in all honesty, if my school hat a website that let me talk to friends from school, i probably wouldn't use it. i see them all day. lots of kids already use texting. and if someone wants to meet new kids, they can go up and introduce themselves to someone new in the hall.

good luck with that. most school don't allow myspace/facebook on there computers so i dont think they would be cool with it. so i wouldnt involve them. but just make sure not to put the name of your school in it because that would involve them and they would have a reason to shut it down. so make it and tell everyone about it so when they go home and check there myspace/facebook they will go there afterwards. but those 2 sites are hella popular and everyone already goes there to meet new people. good luck

I think the best for you is to create a forum. So that you and others can create/talk contents freely. Best free forum host are phpbb and smf.
