Depends entirely what you want to do.

basically you find a product people want and provide it. This could be a service or a product.

To succeed in business you need to charge a higher cost than you have paid. That would be your profit. Believe me most businesses need a lot of profit just to break even.

That depends on what type of business your looking into starting.  There are two types of businesses.  One is a traditional business, store front type in which there are a lot of things you need to do.  Depending on what state you live in, would determine on what things you have to do.  Without knowing what state your in, what type of business your venturing in, I can't give you an exact way as to how to start a business.

The second type of business is a home based business.  Again, without knowing what industry you looking into if your going to run a business like a child daycare center, plumbing or something like that, I can't point you out to the right direction.  If your looking into collaborating with another corporation and running a business within a business then most states are the same and theirs not much to starting up and not as much start up costs as a traditional business. But you have the same income opportunity as a traditional business without all the over head expenses.
