So my cousin just got back from basic and giving me the heads up she said the most important thing is to get in the habit of running 1.5mile and to time myself. This is all she said

I've always hated running..I mean in school I made myself run the 1 mile run without stopping. I jogged around the whole track over and over and afterward it felt as though my teeth were going to explode and my legs were going to fall off. I know this sounds bizarre but it's a example on how hard it is for me

I now that I have to suck it up though=/ if I want to be in the military so I was wondering if some of you could give me some tips and advice on starting

I'm starting from zero and have have one and 1/2 months at the most before I leave

I'm 19,146lbs, if this helps

Thanks much in advance =)

  1. the most important thing I can tell you is to make a point out of actually doing it everyday... it will get easier after about a week.

When I try to start running on my own i find that this is the hardest part, just actually getting out there and doing it.

but i just go right before i take my bath each day. I go running for about 30 minutes, morning or night, and then get in a cold tub to cool down... it feels great on the legs...

  2. Start running today.  Run a little further each day - maybe only add five hundredths of a mile each day.  If you start at five hundredths, you'll hit a mile and a half in 30 days; if you can start at a quarter mile, you'll be there in 25 days.  Wear some weight while your at it; doesn't have to be fancy or expensive - a backpack with soda bottles gradually filled with water will increase your endurance too, and prepare you for running with gear.  Unless you're already really thin (you don't say what your height is), you'll probably drop weight, too.

    Good luck.
