I am wanting to add running to the exercises that I do. I just don't really know how too. Well I do, but every time I try to do it, I get tired real quick and my abdominal area really starts to burn after about a minute of starting. If you have any tips they would be greatly appreciated.

  2. You will be less likely to quit if you find a group to run with, there are many beginner runners just like you.  Check your local running club website.   Sometimes these running clubs have a beginners program, and that is also a good place to start.  Good Luck!

  3. Try the couch to 5k program. It incorporates walking and running gradually to build you up to 3 miles. Sometimes the tireness is normal. And other times, the tiredness is due to tryint to do too much too soon.

Sometimes, you just need to start slowly. Don't worry about your pace. In fact, especially when your starting, your runs allow you to be conversational. Not too fast.

  4. Make sure you warm up before you start running!  Stretch out the hamstrings, arms, legs, etc.  This will let your body know to increase the oxygen flow to the muscles so that when you start running, your muscles don't get tired out so soon.  If you don't, the lactic acid will build up faster, which is the "burning" sensation you feel.

Listening to music and/or having a running buddy will also help.  You may also want to go to a running store to so they check out whether your feet  overpronate or suppinate, which would require a different type of running shoe.

  5. Good for you on starting to run, you need to gradually get yourself into running, It took me some time before i got into it.  Make sure that you are stretching properly prior, and when you are running you need to make sure you breath properly(might be why you get ABD pain-AKA side stitch.

I recommend (alot) the website runnersworld.com because it gave me such helpful info when i first got started and to this day i love it and refer to it often.

  6. You have to start running gradually , you can just throw it in. When you start just do intervals , then work you way up to then full on run. Good Luck!
