  1. Wedding magazines!

  2. Good job starting early! Do as much research as you can and use as many resources as you can! Try a website such as theknot.com it helps a lot and even lets you put your date in and gives you month by month check lists. Also take the extra time to start on a wedding website. Ewedding.com has been great for us.

  3. I would do as much now as possible, I waited until the last minute to do a lot of things! First figure our what season you would like to have your wedding in, then try to decide on a month. When you have that figured out you can find out what kind of flowers will be in at that time of year and that should give you the colors you will be able to work with. I recommend spreading all of your purchases out instead of buying a lot of stuff at once. If you are on a tight budget, I bought my gown at lilywedding.com, they have beautiful dresses at very cheap prices! Good Luck

  4. 1. Make a list of friends and family to invite from both sides 2. Where to hold the wedding...Home, garden, chapel, justice of the peace or even Vegas 3. Brides dress and grooms...Colors of maid of honor and brides maid if any 4. Colors of flowers, and bouquet 5. Ordering wedding cake 6. Can you afford all this and any extras?

  5. I would start by doing a lot of research.  Your wedding isn't until 2010, so you have more than a year to plan.     Since you are clueless to the wedding industry, planning, trends, styles, etc.  I would try to get as much information as you can.   Start by gathering up a vision of what you'd like.

In addition, I would make rough draft guest count.   Figure out how many people you think you're going to invite.  That way, you can figure out a budget.

Also, go to TheKnot.com.  Sign up for an account, enter your wedding date and follow the month-by-month "Things to Do" checklist.  It will help you gain ideas and insight.   Also, set a date.

  6. I just got engaged in June and am getting married in December.  The first thing you need to do is decide on a budget. Once you know that, then you  have to decide roughly how many guests.  From there you start looking at venues and finding out what they cost.

I knew right away I wanted a small wedding.  For a couple of months, we were torn between a restaurant wedding and reception (pretty lush) or a rural wedding in a small chapel with reception at our new home. Ultimately, we decided on the chapel and home reception (final decision made over last weekend).

Since I am buying a house in November, the entire budget fell to my guy and he came up with $7,000.  With that comes my engagement ring, the wedding, photography, the reception and the 10 day honeymoon.  Not a penny over.  In fact, he took some out of the wedding budget so that I could get the ring setting I wanted. The only thing this does not include is the photos from the wedding, but since we are getting the negatives or disks, we have our leisure to pay for those.
