  1. Look in the phone book for different names. Find some that fit your

    characters.

  2. To start, just pick something you don't hate and go with it.

Picking names isn't necessarily that hard. If you want fantasy names, try randomly hitting some vowels and consonants on the keyboard until something that sounds like a name comes up. Otherwise, just pick some names you like and work with those. You can always change it later, and you'll find that names grow on you as time passes.

  3. Look at baby naming websites?

But honestly, I have no idea. I'm afraid I'm one of those irritating people whose stories just come to them, and my characters appear out of the mist with names attached.

  4. Just think about something that people can really relate to, for a plot.

For names, it depends on where they are and what time they are in.  For example, you wouldn't name someone in the middle ages "Barbara" or "Debbie".  And sometimes you can make names up if it's in the future or in a made up realm.  Give names to match the characters too.

Character profiles are really useful as well.

  5. well i think u shod do the first name that pops into ur mind. like wen i saw ur ? 4 sum reason i immediatly thot of junie b. jones and even tho thats already taken u can always find sumthing just as wacky. like polkadot pansy or the other way around or u cod do sumthing like sam 4 a normal person.

  6. By the start do you mean the start of writing or the start as in middle and ending?

If you have the start middle and ending you can simply begin at the start, introduce the main character etc.

Some stories start with people simply talking.

as for the character names... think of their personalities.

If you must look up baby name sites and refer to them.

    Hope this helps.

  7. The best way to start writing your story is to simply start.  Write down whatever comes to your head for your beginning.

Naming characters is pretty simple also.  Choose names that fit your characters.  If someone is of Italian heritage, name them Bianca, Gina, Isabella, etc.  If a character happens to be a hunky football player, don't name them Morton; choose a name that fits.  It's also a neat idea to choose names based on their meanings; if one of your characters is depressed, name her Leah.  It has the meaning Sad.  Also, choose names that fit your time frame.  If one character is a 45 year old woman, it would not make sense to name her Addison considering Addison has only become popular for babies in the past couple of years.
