I do swimming in a FREEZING pool, they just won't heat it!! I have to stop every five minutes to talk to the coach for AGES in this cold pool. How do I stay warm while stopping for so long? jump up and down... move legs weirdly... how do you stay warm?!

  1. If the water temp is below 70 and the sun isn't shinning , you will get chilled if you don't keep moving .I'm thinking it has to be an indoor pool because most swim teams train indoors ..

So maybe you should do a lot more warm ups before you get in the pool . That way your body will already have an advantage .

  2. you have to move around to produce heat in your body

so just keep moving your legs back and forth

  3. With fast n nonstop swimming u will get warmness.

  4. Tread water fast or hold your breath to get your heart rate up. That should speed up circulation around your body so you should be able to stay warm longer. If it doesn't work, try harder during the main sets of your workout (it just makes you feel warmer).

  5. every time you swim, sprint your heart out and you will be sooooo tired you wont feel it to be cold and on the wall, tread water vigorously so you move and create heart

  6. Assuming you are unable to switch to a heated pool and cannot wait till a warmer summer, suggest you do a 30-45mins of running or gym work before your swim lessons start. Trying to swim hard and fast in an effort just to keep warm, will cause inaccurate stroke movements, and tire you in no time. It will defeat your very purpose of mastering the strokes in a smooth manner, and enabling you to learn faster. Tell your coach how you feel, and he would most likely make some adjustments. Cheers!
