Question:

How to sterilise secondhand cloth toys?

I've bought some secondhand baby toys for my niece, which are soft cloth - one being a cloth baby book with thin plastic/card inside to make it rigid, the type you use as a cot frieze. The coloured pictures are printed on.

How do I clean and sterilise (kill any germs) this in a way that won't 'hurt' it or cause the colours to run/fade?

Thanks

  1. You should still be able to wash it just dont put it in the dryer. The colours shouldnt be able to run or fade beacuse they can put it in their mouths so the babies saliva would make the colours run. Just wash (gentle cycle) and hang to dry

  2. rubbing alcohol kills germs

Hospitals use it to soak thermometers so it should work on toys
