Question:

How to sterilize and clean Medela's bottles?

I just bought a Medela Pump in Style and it came with 4 Medela storage/feeding bottles. They did not include instructions on cleaning the bottles, and I know that every company has different recommendations on how long to boil their products. Does anyone have this storage system and could offer some guidance? Thanks for your help!

  1. I am sure it is the same with most regular bottles.  The use hot, soapy water and air drying them but there should be 1-800 number included in your package.  You should call them and ask their recommendations. Good luck.

  2. You don't have to sterilize them. Just wash with hot soapy water. Be sure to take all of the little pieces off or it will get clogged.

  3. If you have a dish washer just putting them in there will work.  Otherwise I always washed mine with hot soapy water and then sterilized them in the Medela steam bags:

I use those bags all the time for pacifiers, etc.  They are great and much easier and faster than boiling.  They have them at Target also if you have one of those near you.

Good luck :)  I used my Medela Pump In Style for almost a year and still use it sometimes when I am away from my daughter, I highly recommend it!

  4. You don't need to boil the bottles. Just hand wash with anti bacterial dishsoap and hot water. Rinse very well & air dry.

  5. did you purchase the pump or was it given to you?  It should have come with a little instructional booklet that tells you how to use it and sterilize it.

You don't have to boil the bottles just wash them in hot soapy water and let them air dry.
