  1. eat smaller meals more often, and try not to eat for about an hour before you go to sleep. try to avoid getting hungry though, that could exasperate the problem also. other than that, bread? tums is relatively harmless according to doctors and it does have calcium...

  2. The only natural remedy that I've had any luck with was as simple as a big glass of milk to help coat things.  I had to do it before meals and when it was really bothering me.  It definitely doesn't work for everyone but if you haven't yet tried it, it's worth an attempt.

  3. I had the same problem when i was pregnant. I just had my baby 2 weeks ago and i had heartburn from 20 weeks all the way until I gave birth. But my doctor told me to talk tums and that helped alot. It doesnt hurt that baby at all and gives you some much needed relief.

I hope this helps and congrats on the baby

  4. My doctor said if I didn't want to take Tums, to try mustard. It's weird but it seemed to work for me. He also said to sleep with a glass full of water next to my bed and drink it whenever I wake up in the middle of the night with the burning feeling. Oh yea, and if it's bothering you at night, try using an extra pillow to hold your head up a bit higher, that could also help too!

  5. You know they say dont eat this, dont eat that. I had really REALLY bad acd reflux for the entire second pregnancy.

And the only thing that helped was taking about 2-3 Zantac 75 a day, its safe during pregnancy and you can buy it in any store.

It also helps if your experiencing morning sickness.

I didn't find eating or not eating certain things helped, or elevating the bed, nothing changed anyting except the Zantac 75.

    Hope that helps.

I took it the entire second pregnancy.

And if your refluxs was as bad as mine, Tums was a joke, had no effect!

My first pregnancy tums worked and so did drinking a glass of milk before bed, the second pregnancy it was reflux from h**l!

HAHA silly amanda....she didnt have it as bad as I did then....yea there was nothing that worked. I'm sure it was totally hormone related rather than food related.

And my doctor said NOT to drink water close to bed time, and it did seem to make the acid reflux worst.

  6. I have acid reflux sometimes too..my sympathies..I know how horrible it can be.  My doctor gave me a list of Safe Medications to take during pregnancy:  You can take: Tagament, Zantac, Pepcid, Tums, Mylanta, Maalox, Gaviscon and PeptoBismol.

I was so excited though when I read in my natural remedies book that KIWI FRUIT can help acid reflux. I didn't believe it.... but I ate one and felt a little better. After eating two, the discomfort was gone!!!   My book says the fruit has soothing enzymes that help nuetralize the acid.  A few weeks ago I tried dried kiwi and it seemed to help as well.. although I bet fresh fruit works better.

  7. How you eat and when you eat effects this a lot. try a bunch of different things till you find what works.

    suggestions:

    - keep soda crackers beside youe bed and eat a few in the morning. dont get up till after 20 mins of eating has passed by.

    - eat a late night stack. as in wake up in the middle of the night( odds are youll need to take a bathroom trip at some point) eat something light. The nausea in the morning  is due to sugar levels.

-try eating small meals very often. You stomach is far more irritable during pregnancy so dont over stuff it.

usually your province or state will have a health center. they usually provide you with a nutritionist who could help you with a diet to try and keep your sugar levels in check and your nausea at bay,

best of luck. i had my morning sickness all day everyday from weak 6 -41
