Question:

How to stop Macbook talking?

my macbook will announce(talk) to me when one of my friends are available to ichat or when i log in/out of ichat. this is really annoying me and i am sure that i have all the speech recognition boxes unchecked.

any help or suggestions would be awesome!!

  1. System Preferences > Universal Access > turn off Voice Over.


  2. Its helpful to let us know which OS of mac u have.  They are all slightly different. In speech, under System Preferences, make sure that the box called "Announce when an application requires ure attention" is checked.  Then go to ichat, preferences, alerts and then uncheck the box which says Announce when event occurs, and bring the volume back to zero in that box.  That should stop it.  Im running leopard, so thats what to do in there.
