How to stop a lifter from rattling in a 1990 ford bronco ll 2.9 V6?

  2. There is no such thing as a mechanic in a can (a.k.a seafoam). Pull the valve cover and tighten the rocker arm nut or bolt to 20 ft/lbs and hope it's quiet. Seafoam may or may not make the noise go away but it still does not fix the problem.  

  3. It maybe time to change out the lifters, or readjust the valves.  Purchase a can of Seafoam.  It is a little pricey but the stuff works great.  Any auto parts store will have it.  It has been a while since I have used it, but you pour the contents into the oil, and let it run.  It will usually take care of a noisy lifter.
